St. Charles, IL--The Lionel Operating Train Society (LOTS) will be holding its 36th Annual Convention in St. Charles from July 5th-July 11th. The event will be utilizing the Pheasant Run Resort Mega Center for its train show on Saturday, July 11th.
Open to the public from 10:00am-4:00pm, the show has a $5.00 admission charge for adults; active military, firefighters, police officers, and children under the age of 12 (accompanied by an adult) will be admitted free of charge. The show will feature train dealers, kid-friendly operating train layouts, and train rides for children.
In total, the LOTS Annual Convention will consume an estimated 478 guest rooms throughout the week by an expected 200 attendees. Local visitor bureau officials predict that the event will bring in approximately $250,500 of potential direct spending to the Greater St. Charles area.
Founded in 1979, LOTS is a national train club for operators of Lionel trains and accessories. As of December 2007, the organization had about 2,000 active members throughout the world.
The SCCVB is funded by the Illinois Office of Tourism and a portion of the hotel/motel tax collected by St. Charles hotels to promote Greater St. Charles as a destination for leisure tourists, meetings, conventions, sports events, and motorcoach trips.
