Once a year, Fine Line Creative Arts Center showcases art on a runway. Uncommon Threads is a fundraiser to fund the Center's mission to support art and artists in the community. With months of preparation, Uncommon Threads unfolds in a gorgeous light filled space at Q Center in St. Charles, a perfect setting for the stunning event. The doors open at 10 am when guests can, for 2 hours, peruse the boutique area, a fashion shoppers wonderland, ablaze with colors and shapes to delight. With local, regional, and out-of-state boutique artists, it is the place to find pieces not found in your usual shopping places. At mid-day, the boutique area temporarily closes, and a three-course lunch service begins. At 1 pm, the runway show begins. All runway items are available for purchase directly after the show. It is the perfect time to pick up a unique piece of wearable art. The runway models comprise of volunteers whose ages range from 17 to over 70. After the runway show, the boutique area re-opens for purchase of any additional pieces missed earlier in the day and the newly added runway items. This October event is the perfect time to find something new and unusual for the upcoming holiday season. It is an ideal day out for girlfriends, mothers and daughters, sisters, grandmothers and granddaughters or co-workers. All the proceeds from this event go to help support the continuing work of Fine Line Creative Arts Center. This center, founded in 1979, is an incredible adult art center, whose mission is to foster art in the community. Based in St. Charles, they teach year-round classes in many different art areas including pottery, weaving, painting, blacksmithing, jewelry and glass fusing. Tickets go on sale August 15th.
